Tangy Zoodle #107 (or the Big Project)

Tangy Zoodle #107 - on canvas - 30"x40"

Yes! It's finished! The project upon which I've been working for my mother for a number of months now is finally completed and I feel pretty happy about it. I've enjoyed working on it and I've learned a lot from doing this and I hope to create more large pieces like this. Well, maybe not quite this large. This canvas measures 30" x 40".

Before I proceed with more large Tangy Zoodles, though, I need to finish the Secret Project, which I've been working on for years. I just can't allow myself to get sidetracked anymore.

Kokeshi Dolls

"Kokeshi Dolls" - Tangy Zoodle #106
While giving an art lesson last week, I discovered Kokeshi dolls at the home of my student. While she created a serious drawing of these beautiful and whimsical delights, I couldn't keep myself from tangling them! What fun!

Tangy Zoodle #105
For me, this whole Zentangle adventure has just become more exciting. It's been a year and I'm still tangling! :D

Art Resolutions for 2014

I don't usually make resolutions each new year, but I try to make goals. This year I've unconsciously come up with a combination of the two that I wish to share with you.

First, in addition to the usual one of living a healthier lifestyle, I've resolved to stay better in touch with those whom I care about most. I'm a bad one for just picking up the phone and calling, but I plan to be better about it.

But, on to the art. Since my artwork has not been selling well and I've had to seek other employment, I feel a little freer to work on projects that I truly love and not just whatever I think will sell well. Hmmm... come to think of it, I think that's the way I started out.

The first item is to complete the large canvas I've been working on for my mother. The second is to complete the "secret project" which I've been working on since January 2010. I cannot wait to unveil it. Thirdly, I have a new idea for artwork that is much larger than what I usually create and will contain elements of Tangy Zoodles and collage. I'm so excited about this!

My last and best goal/resolution is to make 2014 the year of the dog! THIS. WILL. BE. THE. YEAR. I. GET. A. DOG!

That's all. Happy New Year!
