Pink & Green

The pink bunny for Maria Lucia is still a work in progress.
Getting back to the painting for Maria Lucia; as I suspected, the rediscovered green stamped paper in my sketch book makes a lovely background for the pink rabbit and butterfly. I was mixing paints together one day to form a specific shade of aqua and I was failing miserably. So, I took the mixture and painted it onto a stamp that I had carved into a piece of styrofoam and stamped it into my sketchbook and rather forgot about it until I was working on this project. I'm so glad I saved this! I think this piece is developing nicely, if I do say so myself. :D

Camellias & Azaleas

"Camellias & Azaleas" - Enhanced Digital Photo
Believe it or not, I haven't always been a fan of digital photography and digital photo manipulation. You couldn't tell it from the way I love to play with photos.

Recently, my mother brought in some cut camellia and azalea blossoms from the yard and floated them in a floaty thingy (technical term). Of course I found them to be extremely photo worthy. Below is the "before"  photo and the one above is the "after." ;-)

Mini TAGG Reunion

Lynn, me, Art - at J. Christopher's in Savannah

I've moved many times. I love the new adventures that a move brings, but there's always something that I miss that I've left behind. When I moved away from Maryland, the thing I missed most were the other members of The Artsy Girls Guild, or TAGG. Most of us have been together in that group for nine years! When I moved 100 miles away to Delaware, it wasn't too difficult to make it back to Maryland for monthly meetings. Having moved to Georgia, though, it's much more difficult. Whenever I go back north, I generally meet up with as many as can make it to dinner somewhere. My dear friend, Lynn, however, seems always to be in the south when I'm up north. Today we got lucky! Both Lynn and her husband, Art, were working their way north after an extensive stay in Florida and we got together for an early lunch at one of my favorite Savannah eateries, J. Christopher's. And like true friends, we immediately fell into conversation like we had just seen each other last week instead of more than a year ago. It was great! Truly good friends are hard to find and so we must hold onto them like the treasures they are. :D

Single White Tulip Finds A New Home

Many thanks to my friend, Nancy White, for giving "Single White Tulip" a new home in her special "happy place." I love getting photos like this.

More Flip Flops

I call this design wheels for obvious reasons. Once again, I've selected a default color for the straps and soles, but you have four options to choose from. It's cool to have cool flip flops for the summer!

It's Almost Flip Flop Season!

It's actually flip flop season here for me; and even if it isn't for you, it will be soon. I've created a couple of new flip flop designs and what's wonderful is that Cafe Press is offering other colors besides black for the straps. Here is the first of my new designs for this season:

I used pink for the default color for the straps and soles but you have a total of four colors to choose from.

Fancy Shoes

"Fancy Shoes" - Digital Collage
This image actually came about while working on the "secret project." It didn't work for the project and I almost forgot about it until the recent rage of brightly multicolored shoes started appearing on the market recently. I can't claim any credit since this image has been hiding on my computer.

In The Pink

Tonight I constructed this little pink butterfly to go with yesterday's pink bunny. I also discovered what I think could be the perfect green background while flipping through my sketchbook. I was making an attempt at mixing up greens for another project and I stamped the mixture onto a page in my sketchbook with a styrofoam stamp which I'd carved some time ago. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will all come together as I've imagined in my mind.

Gift for Maria Lucia Under Construction

I know you've seen this bunny before, but not quite like this. My friend, Mary Beth, and her husband, recently gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Maria Lucia; a name as beautiful as she. Of course I want to make her a keepsake for her nursery which is a lovely old-fashioned and very feminine pink and green; coincidentally, one of my favorite color combinations.

Today I finally began work on the piece of artwork I intend to give her and I started with the focal point. This particular zentangle is called "Cadent" and it reminds me of Herend china which I have long admired but never been able to afford. I thought it would be fun to make my own "Herend china" figurine (on paper of course) for this piece.

Below is a photo of the real thing. You can see that the pattern is similar, but not identical.

Tangy Zoodle #108

I'm going somewhere with this. This is just a prototype and I think I'm liking the direction this is going in. It will be awhile before I can develop it further because of other projects that I need to finish first; but this has definite possibilities.

(This is how it started out, of course.)
