Animal Crackers Opening

My best friends and I, collectively known as The Artsy Girls Guild, or TAGG, were on hand this evening at the Oxford Arts Alliance in Oxford, Pennsylvania, to officially kick off our exhibit entitled "Animal Crackers."

The Artsy Girls Guild is loosely based in Cecil County, Maryland and has been around since the winter of 2005. There are currently about 15 members (11 of whom are represented in this show) and we all work with different media. This makes our exhibits very eclectic; therefore we choose to unify them with a theme.

"Animal Crackers" is an exhibit inspired by members of the animal kingdom and attending the show is like a trip to the zoo and a wildlife sanctuary combined. You can see lions, zebras and elephants as well as raccoons, dogs and lizards. And they come in all shapes, sizes and colors. It was a no-brainer to arrive at this theme because every single one of us depicts animals in our artwork from time to time. And animals have such a universal appeal. The show is fun, whimsical and full of color and texture. It contains paintings, ceramics, jewelry, decorative quilting, sculpture and collage. And the spacious, well lit gallery of the Oxford Arts Alliance is the perfect venue in which to display these works of art. As you can probably tell, I am well pleased!

The show runs at the Oxford Arts Alliance until the end of the month. The names of the artists exhibiting are: Annie Schappert, Arja Markkula, Jay Stutman, Judith Owen, Kristeena Crabb, Lorraine Haggard, Lynn Johnson, Pamela Goffinet, Sara Runzulli, Susan Amadio & Tina Skinner.

Mr. Bingley. Our unofficial mascot.
