Cinnabun In Green

Yes, you guessed it. This is the smaller project which I worked on for Mom. She redecorated the guest bathroom in her house in great fun colors and wanted a caricature portrait of Cinnabun as the piece de resistance. So, I painted one for her. We both giggle at the results.

Statement Art

OK, it's Bomomo, but doesn't it make a statement?

All fine artists are feeling the brunt of today's current economy. Many of us have even gone so far as to say art just isn't selling. Of course, I know that that's not entirely true. Some people, people who still have lots of money, are still buying art. But they are not about to buy small affordable pieces like mine.The art which sells today is "statement" art. It's big, bold, expensive. One would even design whole rooms around it. So I find myself asking myself, does my art make a statement? No, I reply. My art just pretty much hints at a suggestion. In fact, you could even say my art asks a question.

So, maybe the answer is to create statement art. Maybe I need to step out of my comfort zone and buy the biggest canvas I can find and create art using the boldest colors I can think of and slap the biggest price tag on it that I dare. I must dare to be bold; make a statement and not just a whisper.

News On The Big Picture

I have not given up on The Big Picture, which I've been working on for my mother. This project was derailed slightly while I worked on a smaller picture for her, but not work has continued. I'm still enjoying it and loving the challenge. Just today, she asked me if it would be ready by Christmas. "No promises," I told her. 

Sorry. My phone camera caught the glare. Hopefully I'll be able to get a well lit, perfect picture, when it's finished.

Low Country Throw Pillows

After much wondering, I finally got to see one of my throw pillows in the flesh. Actually, two of them! My friend and neighbor, Lori, ordered two with my Low Country design on them.

Here's my honest opinion. I was delighted to feel the soft fabric; very nice to the touch. And, yes, they really are furnished with a zipper for easy removal. The design is printed on both front and back, which surprised me. I was expecting to find a solid colored back, but the two sided design is really not a bad thing. In a perfect world, I would be allowed to design the back as well as the front in case I wanted a complementing backside (not to be confused with a complimenting one!).

It's also easy to expect these pillows to be larger than they actually are. A typical throw pillow is 20 inches square, but this one is just 14.25 inches. I would classify it as an "accent" pillow. It looks great in a cluster of larger pillows, but can get lost by itself. However, Lori has these perched in chairs in her entry and the proportion is perfect.

So, there you have it! The woven throw pillows from Cafe Press, and specifically shop crabulous! are definitely worth purchasing.

Tangy Zoodle Woven Throw Pillow

Recently, my old friend, Tom Hurd, (no, he's not old, I've just known him for a long time) purchased my fairly newly designed Tangy Zoodle throw pillow. Because I haven't yet seen any of these pillows in person, I was so happy to hear from Tom about how much he likes it and to receive photos of how nicely it lends itself to his decor.

Gingko Leaves for Susan

Most of you probably remember my Gingko Leaves collage. Most recently it was on special in the Starving Artist section of my Etsy shop. It was purchased by my good friend, Susan Amadio. Over the years her artwork, ceramic collage, has awed and inspired me. I was honored that she chose to purchase this piece from me and even more honored that she hung it with two of her recent copper pieces which were inspired by my Tangy Zoodles.
